David Walliams gave Simon Cowell the gift of a lifetime this week. He penned a very special children’s book especially for his new baby son.
Eric Cowell was born on Valentines Day and is Simon’s first child and during an appearance on Britain’s Got More Talent on Monday night, Walliams – an acclaimed children’s author – presented his boss with 50 copies of the thoughtful gift, which had been properly printed and bound at his own publishers and even illustrated by gifted and well known illustrator Tony Ross. Ross is best known for his work on the Horrid Henry series and of course provides all the drawings for Walliams’ own creations.
The hardback book is called ‘David Walliams Presents Baby Eric’, but many fans of the show were surprised when Cowell seemed not exactly grateful for the thoughtful present at first.
Insiders told The Sun that the music mogul was worried about David releasing the book to the general public, however he was moved when he realised it was an entirely private gift.
A source told The Sun: “He didn’t quite know what to say.”
The blurb inside David’s novel says: “Simon Cowell was the man who thought he had everything, until the day Baby Eric arrived in his life.”
“This is the story of how Eric David Sinitta Louis-Walsh Cowell came into the world.”
A source said: “BGT is a real family affair now with Lauren and Eric down at the studios.”
